Post-Completion Review

Our client, a boutique wealth management firm, headquartered in Hong Kong, acquired a unit on busy Lyndhurst Terrace and undertook an extensive, long-term investment in a high-quality fit-out. The design language draws on a nostalgic sensibility, evoking the character of traditional private banking environments, while being expressed through contemporary geometry and a refined palette of materials. These were selected and detailed to the highest standard, with bespoke fixtures and fittings carefully integrated throughout to ensure a cohesive and enduring outcome.

The space includes hosting and meeting facilities, alongside a meeting room that can be converted into two private offices via moveable drinks cabinet and bookcase elements. Additional amenities include a shower washroom, built-in wardrobes, and discreetly positioned breakout spaces. Through negotiation with the building landlord, we were also able to extend the client’s materials into the common lobby, creating an ultra-compact, unified environment across the entire floor plate.

The Priva-Glass meeting room - switchable between transparent and opaque, and expandable into a full boardroom and event space when the adjacent meeting room is opened up.

The office was carefully planned so every inch of the floorplate works as hard as possible, maximising value for this owner-occupied space while maintaining a refined, coherent and ultra-compact workplace environment.

(Approach)Because the unit was owner-occupied, Studio X was able to assist in negotiations with the landlord to extend the finishes into the lift lobby, giving the arrival sequence a unified feel.

The result is a headquarters that feels larger than it is and begins before you reach the front door.

We could never have envisaged just how much is involved in designing an office!

We gave Studio X a wish list at the outset and we got everything we asked for. The early feedback from our clients has been extremely positive. We fully expect our business to generate more interest and customer retention in the years ahead.

The design sets the tone of how we want to be perceived in the marketplace and we now have an office we can be truly proud of.

We cannot thank them enough.

Drawings & details

Selected drawings and technical studies here tested the placement of the Priva-Glass boardroom and MD pavilion within a 1,600 sqft footprint, working through circulation and spatial logic before detailed documentation began.

The brief demanded a level of finish and specification well above the typical Central office fit-out. Every element - joinery, lighting, hardware, floor finishes - was selected for quality and longevity, reflecting the client's intention to invest in a workplace that would serve the business for the long term.

The programme was unusually complex for an ultra-compact 1,600 sqft headquarters. Within that envelope we needed to accommodate a switchable meeting room, a fold-out bureau system, a shower and wardrobe facility, and a director's pavilion - each functioning independently while making sense as a single, considered environment.

Delivering it required precise planning and close coordination with the contractor throughout the build.

Studio X's appointment covered concept through to construction support and post-completion review.
