A second appointment with Assembly Global — optimising their Sheung Wan headquarters for growth, flexibility, and a new model of collaborative working.

The brief was to accommodate more staff, increase the number of meeting rooms, and improve workflows and collaboration — while introducing a casual design language defined by open ceilings and honest materials.

Post-Completion Review
The planning was carefully conceived around a key structural challenge: a series of large columns that interrupted the floor plate. Rather than working around them, the design conceals them within a panoramic meeting room pod — emphasising the open floor area and preserving uninterrupted views of the harbour skyline.
The result is a workplace that actively fosters flexibility and collaboration — and one the team takes genuine pride in.

We brought Studio X on board to reconceptualize our office from fixed to flexible.
It was a pleasure working with the Studio X. They crafted a beautiful space that fosters flexibility and collaboration, and an environment that our team take great pride in.
The whole process felt like a true partnership and we are delighted we brought them onboard.

The office is organised as a carefully structured journey, guiding visitors through moments of pause, framed views, and crafted detail that reflect Assembly’s creative culture.

Designed for Assembly’s Hong Kong studio, the office balances a working production environment with spaces for client engagement and collaboration. Circulation was carefully planned so that visitors move through the studio naturally and freely.
The ceiling framework aligns precisely with structural columns, façade mullions, and vertical joinery, establishing a consistent spatial order across the studio. Lighting, services, and architectural elements are coordinated within this system, while floor finishes continue the alignment at ground level. The result is a calm, structured environment that supports focused work while quietly showcasing the craft and precision behind Assembly’s design practice.
