Post-Completion Review

Lee Yuen are a major supplier to the US and European kitchenware market, selling to household names such as Williams Sonoma, Whittards Of Chelsea and Lakeland. And it is precisely the buying directors of firms such as these that this project was designed to welcome, engage and serve.

Working within a tight footprint, the layout was reorganised to improve circulation, product visibility, and flexibility for buyer presentations. Materials and detailing were selected to provide a neutral backdrop that allows product ranges to take prominence.

Modern kitchen wall with hanging kitchen utensils, metal shelves, and a sliding ladder beside a large textured glass window.

A sliding library ladder provides access to the full height of the perimeter display wall, and references the heritage of specialist trade showrooms.

Modern kitchen showroom with utensils displayed on a gray wall and a kitchen island with drawers in the foreground.

The central island organises a broad range of kitchen tools and utensils for easy buyer access with compartmentally organised storage underneath.

Modern retail store interior with geometric display pedestals and pendant lighting under a peach ceiling.

Material choices and detailing were developed to provide a calm, neutral backdrop, allowing colour, texture, and product form to remain the primary focus throughout the space.

Drawings & details

This section presents selected drawings and technical studies developed to test layout, circulation, and spatial logic prior to detailed documentation.

Before & after

The existing space was a conventional, partitioned storage and display room with poor circulation and limited visibility across the product range. The brief called for a complete rethink — opening up the layout, consolidating display into a legible system, and creating an environment capable of hosting formal buyer presentations.

Drag

The redesign reorganised the showroom around clearer circulation, improved product visibility, and a more legible buyer journey. Storage, display, and demonstration zones were rationalised to support both day-to-day use and formal buyer presentations.

Modern interior with peach-colored walls, curved metal arches, cylindrical pedestals, and perforated metal panels displaying decorative items.

The completed showroom reorganises the space around a central display island and a continuous perimeter wall system, with clear sightlines from entry to the full width of the range.

Storage is integrated rather than hidden, and dedicated areas for product demonstration and consultation are embedded naturally within the flow of the space.
