Retail interior design in Singapore for flagship stores, store concepts and multi-site formats.
Studio X designs stores, showrooms and concessions for brands in Singapore and across Asia. Most of our retail work has been in Hong Kong, mainland China and Europe; in Singapore it includes a car showroom for Venture Cars and the working retail store inside Pandora's Asia headquarters. Our founder, Rufus Turnbull, oversees projects from both our Singapore and Hong Kong offices.

Flagship and concept stores
A flagship represents the brand in a chosen location, and its design sets the rules other stores may follow. China Mobile's two Hong Kong flagships, 5,500 sq ft across Canton Road and Des Voeux Road, share one retail design system and shifted the stores from selling handsets to demonstrating 5G and IoT. Sharper Image was built as a prototype in Hong Kong and as the brand's first retail store in Milan. Our other work in Singapore is on our Singapore page.

Store rollout systems and design guidelines
For brands opening several stores, we design the concept as a system. Mannings at IFC came with regional rollout guidelines for five markets, and our Concept Retail Systems work for Leon Cycle, Brooks Brothers, Wrangler and Paul Lafayet sets out zoning, a fixture kit of parts and layout options that hold when the site, market or footprint changes.

Concessions and department store formats
Concessions are designed as repeatable formats inside somebody else's ceiling. Studio X has designed them for Canada Goose, Carat, Tokyo Lifestyle and Aromatherapy Associates, in department stores including SOGO Hong Kong, Bloomingdale's New York and Galeries Lafayette Paris.

Showrooms and stores inside offices
Some retail spaces sit inside a company's own premises. Pandora's Asia headquarters in Singapore includes a working retail store, Lee Yuen Housewares turned a warehouse into a showroom for buyers including Williams Sonoma and Lakeland, and the FAO Schwarz prototype store inside ThreeSixty Group's Hong Kong headquarters was used as a testbed by merchandising teams.

Brand and store in one commission
Some retail projects start before there is a brand. For Rare Butchery in Hong Kong, the naming, positioning, identity, packaging and uniforms were built first, then a 180 sq ft corner unit was turned into a dry-aged meat store. Ceylon Store in London combined retail design, brand identity, packaging and custom illustration as one system.

Bringing a brand into a new market
A brand entering a new market has to keep what makes it recognisable while the setting changes. HABA Toys, an eighty-year-old German toy brand, was translated for Chinese malls at MixC World, Shenzhen, with retail guidelines for future stores.

Canada Goose
Studio X took Snøhetta's design vision for Canada Goose and translated it into a retail format that could perform across very different markets, locations and store types. They understood what needed to remain consistent to protect the brand, and what needed to adapt to make each location work commercially and operationally. Just as importantly, they left us with a clear, repeatable framework that could support the continued global rollout.

FAQ
Retail projects range from a single concession to a store system for several markets. These are common questions from brands and retailers.
Has Studio X designed retail spaces in Singapore?
Yes, though most of Studio X's retail work has been in Hong Kong, mainland China and Europe. In Singapore, Studio X designed a car showroom for Venture Cars, completed in 2024, and the working retail store inside Pandora's Asia headquarters at Asia Square Tower 1.
Can Studio X design a store concept for several locations?
Yes. For Mannings at IFC Mall, Studio X produced regional rollout guidelines for five markets alongside the store itself. Its Concept Retail Systems work for brands including Brooks Brothers and Wrangler sets out zoning, a fixture kit of parts and layout options that hold when the site changes.
Does Studio X design department store concessions?
Yes. Studio X has designed concessions as repeatable formats for Canada Goose, Carat, Tokyo Lifestyle and Aromatherapy Associates, in department stores including SOGO Hong Kong, Bloomingdale's New York and Galeries Lafayette Paris.
Does Studio X build the store as well?
No. Studio X is a design consultant: it designs and specifies the store, prepares the tender documents and advises the brand on the contractors' returns. The appointed contractor builds the store and manages the site, and Studio X attends site and reports to the brand on how the work compares with the design.
